মঙ্গলবার বিকাল তখন ৪টা ৫০ মিনিট। সূর্য পশ্চিমাকাশে অস্ত যাচ্ছিল। একটু পর আঁধারে ঢাকা পড়বে গোটা শহর। অন্যসব ব্যস্ত এলাকার মতো গুলিস্তান সিদ্দিকবাজারও ভীষণ ব্যস্ত। মার্কেট আর দোকানগুলোয় প্রচণ্ড ভিড়। ফুটপাত দিয়ে পথচারীরা ছুটছে নিজ নিজ গন্তব্যের দিকে। রাস্তায় প্রচণ্ড যানজট। রিকশা, বাসসহ অন্যান্য যানবাহন চলছে থেমে থেমে। রাস্তার এক পাশে সারিবদ্ধভাবে রাখা আছে রিকশা, ঠেলাগাড়ি আর ভ্যানগাড়ি। হঠাৎ এক ভয়াবহ বিস্ফোরণে সবকিছু লন্ডভন্ড। কেউ কিছু বোঝার আগেই পাশাপাশি দুটি বহুতল ভবনের নিচের দিকটা ধ্বংসস্তূপে পরিণত হয়। বিকট শব্দে কেঁপে ওঠে গোটা গুলিস্তান। ধোঁয়ায় অন্ধকার পুরো এলাকা। এর পরই মানুষের গগনবিদারী আর্তনাদ। মুহূর্তেই চাঞ্চল্যে ভরা সিদ্দিকবাজার যেন এক মৃত্যুপুরীতে পরিণত হলো। রাস্তার ওপর পড়ে আছে রক্তাক্ত অসংখ্য মানুষ। ভবনের নিচতলার কলাপসিবল গেট বিচ্ছিন্ন হয়ে সড়কে পড়ে আছে। তার নিচে পড়ে কাতরাচ্ছে পথচারী। বিধ্বস্ত একাধিক মোটরসাইকেল, রিকশা-ভ্যান। ভবনের কাচ, ইট, পাথর বালুসহ নানান কিছু ছড়িয়ে ছিটিয়ে পড়ে আছে সড়কে। ভবনগুলোর সামনের সড়কে একটি যাত্রীবাহী বাস নিয়েছিল ধ্বংস্তূপের চেহারা। বিধ্বস্ত ভবনের ভিতর থেকে বাঁচাও বাঁচাও বলে চিৎকার করছিল আহতরা। শতাধিক মানুষের এমন আর্তনাদে বিভীষিকাময় এক পরিস্থিতির সৃষ্টি হয় সিদ্দিকবাজারে। কারও মাথা ফেটে গল গল রক্ত ঝরচ্ছিল। কারও হাত বিচ্ছিন্ন। আবার কারও হাত পুরো বিচ্ছিন্ন না হয়ে ঝুলছিল। কেউ রাস্তার ওপর উপুড় হয়ে পড়ে আছে। মাথার খুলি উড়ে গেছে। ঝলসানো শরীরে গড়াগড়ি খাচ্ছিল অনেকেই। বাঁচার আকুতি জানাচ্ছিল তারা। সিদ্দিকবাজারের এই ভয়ংকর বিস্ফোরণের খবর ছড়িয়ে পড়ে বিদ্যুৎগতিতে। ছুটে আসেন ফায়ার সার্ভিসের উদ্ধারকর্মীরা। আসে পুলিশ র্যাব আনসার। গুরুত্ব বিবেচনায় উদ্ধারকাজে অংশ নেয় সেনাবাহিনীও। মঙ্গলবার সন্ধ্যা থেকে গতকাল রাত ১২টা পর্যন্ত উদ্ধার করা হয় ২১ জনের লাশ। এ ছাড়া আহত হয়েছে শতাধিক মানুষ। চারজন এখনো নিখোঁজ রয়েছেন। আহতদের উদ্ধার করে ঢাকা মেডিকেল কলেজ হাসপাতালসহ বিভিন্ন হাসপাতালে পাঠানো হয়। এ সময় আহতদের আর্তনাদ আর নিহতদের স্বজনদের আহাজারিতে ঢাকা মেডিকেল কলেজের পরিবেশ ভারী হয়ে ওঠে। এ ঘটনার মাত্র ৪৮ ঘণ্টা আগে সায়েন্স ল্যাবরেটরি এলাকায় একই ভাবে বিস্ফোরণে ভবন ধসে পড়ে। এর এক দিন আগে বিস্ফোরণ ঘটে চট্টগ্রামে। এক সপ্তাহের মধ্যে একই ধরনের তিনটি বিস্ফোরণ ঘটনার পর প্রশ্ন উঠেছে, কেন এই ভয়াবহ বিস্ফোরণ। সিদ্দিকবাজারের ঘটনাটি দুর্ঘটনা নাকি নাশকতা, তার তদন্তে মাঠে নেমেছেন গোয়েন্দারা। ইতোমধ্যে একজনকে জিজ্ঞাসাবাদ করা হচ্ছে গোয়েন্দা দফতরে নিয়ে। স্বরাষ্ট্রমন্ত্রী আসাদুজ্জামান খান গতকাল বলেছেন, গুলিস্তানে বিস্ফোরণে ক্ষতিগ্রস্ত সাত তলা ভবনটি ঝুঁকিপূর্ণ ইমারতে পরিণত হয়েছে। ভবনের বেসমেন্ট ও নিচতলা যথেষ্ট পরিমাণে ক্ষতিগ্রস্ত। তাই যথেষ্ট প্রিপারেশন (প্রস্তুতি) নিয়ে পরবর্তী কার্যক্রম করা হবে। জাতীয় মানবাধিকার কমিশনের চেয়ারম্যান কামাল উদ্দিন আহমেদ বলেছেন, সিদ্দিকবাজারে বিস্ফোরণের ঘটনা প্রকৃত দুর্ঘটনা নাকি অন্তর্ঘাতমূলক কিছু, তার সঠিক তদন্ত প্রয়োজন। বিস্ফোরণে নিহতদের জন্য তাৎক্ষণিক সহায়তা হিসেবে ৫০ হাজার এবং আহতদের ১৫ থেকে ২৫ হাজার টাকা দিয়েছে ঢাকা জেলা প্রশাসন। এ ঘটনা তদন্তে কমিটিও গঠন করা হয়। নিহতদের মধ্যে ১৮ জনের পরিচয় মিলেছে। তাদের স্বজনদের কাছে লাশ হস্তান্তর করা হয়।
ফায়ার সার্ভিসের ধারণা, বিস্ফোরণ হয়েছে নর্থ সাউথ রোডের ১৮৪ নম্বর ভবনে। ভবনটি সাত তলা। ভবনের বেসমেন্ট, নিচতলা ও দ্বিতীয় তলা ব্যাপক ক্ষতিগ্রস্ত হয়েছে। ফায়ার সার্ভিস বেসমেন্ট ছাড়া পুরো ভবনেই তল্লাশি চালিয়েছে।

সরেজমিন দেখা গেছে, সাত তলা ভবনটির নিচতলা ও দ্বিতীয় তলার সামনের অংশ ভেঙে মূল সড়কে এসে পড়েছে। সাত তলা ভবনটির উত্তর পাশে ১৮০ নম্বর ভবন। এ ভবন পাঁচ তলা। ভবনের নিচতলার একটি দোকান পুরোপুরি ধ্বংসস্তূপে পরিণত হয়েছে। এ ভবনেরও প্রতি তলার জানালার কাচ ভেঙে পড়েছে। বিস্ফোরণস্থলের ভবন লাগোয়া দক্ষিণ পাশের সাত তলা আরও একটি ভবন ক্ষতিগ্রস্ত হয়। ওই ভবনের নিচতলার সিঁড়ির অংশ পুরোপুরি বিধ্বস্ত হয়েছে।
ঘটনাস্থলে গিয়ে দেখা যায়, ফায়ার সার্ভিসের কর্মীরা উদ্ধার তৎপরতা চালাচ্ছিলেন। রাত ১১টা পর্যন্ত তারা ভবন থেকে ১৫ জনের লাশ এবং ৪০ জনকে জীবিত উদ্ধার করেন বলে সংস্থাটির মহাপরিচালক ব্রিগেডিয়ার জেনারেল মাইন উদ্দিন জানিয়েছেন। আর ঢাকা মেডিকেল কলেজ হাসপাতাল সূত্র জানিয়েছেন, এ বিস্ফোরণের ঘটনায় মৃত ১৭ জনের লাশ এ হাসপাতালে আনা হয়েছে। আরেকজন চিকিৎসাধীন অবস্থায় মারা গেছেন। গতকাল আরও দুজনের লাশ উদ্ধার করা হয়।
ঘটনাস্থল থেকে প্রায় ২০০ গজ দূরে একটি ভাসমান চায়ের দোকান চালান সোহরাব হোসেন। বিস্ফোরণের সময় তিনি দোকানে ছিলেন। তিনি মুঠোফোনে ঘটনাস্থলের সামনের কিছু দৃশ্যের ভিডিও করেছেন। সোহরাব হোসেন বলেন, বিস্ফোরণের পর তার মনে হয়েছিল বোমা ফুটেছে। তিনি দৌড়ে ঘটনাস্থলে গিয়ে দেখেন, বহু মানুষ রক্তাক্ত অবস্থায় রাস্তায় পড়ে আছে। তাদের কেউ কেউ বাঁচাও বাঁচাও বলে চিৎকার করছিল। এসব মানুষকে রিকশা-ভ্যানে করে তাৎক্ষণিকভাবে হাসপাতালে পাঠানো হয়। বিস্ফোরণের পর ধারণ করা কয়েকটি ভিডিও সরবরাহ করেছেন সোহরাব হোসেন। একটি ভিডিওতে দেখা গেছে, সড়কে একটি নিথর দেহ পড়ে আছে। একটি ভিডিওতে ষাটোর্ধ্ব একজনের ছিন্নভিন্ন লাশ ভ্যানে করে তুলে নিয়ে যেতে দেখা গেছে। অন্য একটি ভিডিওতে দেখা গেছে, স্থানীয়রা আহত কয়েকজনকে রক্তাক্ত অবস্থায় ভ্যানে করে হাসপাতালে পাঠাচ্ছেন।
প্রত্যক্ষদর্শী এক যুবক জানান, তিনি ঘটনাস্থলের পাশের একটি ব্যাংকের পাশে দাঁড়িয়ে ছিলেন। হঠাৎ কম্পন টের পান, সঙ্গে সঙ্গে বিকট শব্দ শুনতে পান এবং ভবন থেকে ধোঁয়া বের হতে দেখেন। তিনি ঘটনাস্থলে এসে দেখেন রাস্তায় বাস ও রিকশার মধ্যে আহত লোকজন পড়ে রয়েছেন। আহত মানুষগুলো জবাই করা মুরগির মতো ছটফট করছিল। সবাই বাবাগো-মাগো ও পানি পানি বলে চিল্লাচ্ছিল। তিনি বলেন, সেখানে দাঁড়িয়ে থাকা বাসের চালক ও হেলপারের মাথা গেছে। তিনি আরও বলেন, বিস্ফোরণ এত ভয়াবহ ছিল যে দোকানের লোহার কেঁচি গেট উড়ে এসে রাস্তার মাঝে ভ্যান-রিকশার ওপর পড়েছে।
তদন্ত কমিটি
গুলিস্তানের নর্থ সাউথ রোডের সিদ্দিকবাজারে অবস্থিত দুটি ভবন বিস্ফোরণের ঘটনায় চার সদস্যের তদন্ত কমিটি গঠন করেছে ফায়ার সার্ভিস। সংস্থাটির পরিচালক (অপারেশন ও মেইনটেন্যান্স) লেফটেন্যান্ট কর্নেল মোহাম্মদ তাজুল ইসলাম চৌধুরীকে কমিটির প্রধান করা হয়েছে। তদন্ত কমিটির অন্য তিন সদস্য হলেন কমিটির সদস্যসচিব ঢাকা বিভাগের উপপরিচালক দিনমণি শর্মা, কমিটির সদস্য ফায়ার সার্ভিস ট্রেনিং কমপ্লেক্সের ভাইস প্রিন্সিপাল আনোয়ারুল হক ও উপসহকারী পরিচালক শামস আরমান। তদন্ত কমিটিকে পাঁচ কর্মদিবসের মধ্যে রিপোর্ট দিতে বলা হয়েছে।
নিখোঁজ ৩
গুলিস্তানের সিদ্দিকবাজারে দুটি ভবনে বিস্ফোরণের ঘটনায় এখনো তিনজন নিখোঁজ রয়েছেন বলে স্বজনরা দাবি করেছেন। তারা হলেন সিদ্দিকবাজারের আন্ডারগ্রাউন্ড মার্কেটের বাংলাদেশ স্যানিটারির মালিক মো. মেহেদি হাসান স্বপন, পথচারী ইমতিয়াজ মো. ভূঁইয়া সেলিম ও আবদুল মালেক।
নিহত ২১
গুলিস্তানের সিদ্দিকবাজারে দুটি ভবনে বিস্ফোরণের ঘটনায় ২১ জন নিহত হয়েছেন বলে জানা গেছে। তারা হলেন স্যানিটারি দোকান অনিকা এজেন্সির মালিক মমিন উদ্দিন সুমন (৪৫), ইসহাক মৃধা (৩৫), মুনসুর হোসেন (৪০), মো. ইসমাইল হোসেন (৪২), আল আমিন (২৩), মো. রাহাত (১৮), মমিনুল ইসলাম (৩৮), তার স্ত্রী নদী বেগম (৩৬), মাঈন উদ্দিন (৫০), নাজমুল হোসেন (২৫), ওবায়দুল হাসান বাবুল (৫৫), আবু জাফর সিদ্দিক (৩৪), আকুতি বেগম ওরফে আছিয়া খাতুন (৭০), মো. ইদ্রিস মীর (৬০), মো. হৃদয় (২০), নুরুল ইসলাম ভুঁইয়া (৫৫), আবদুল হাসিম সিয়াম (৩৫), মো. সুমন (২১), স্যানিটারি দোকানের কর্মচারী মো. রবিন হোসেন শান্ত (১৯), মুসা (৪৫) এবং সম্রাট নামে একজনের নাম জানা গেলেও তার বয়স জানা যায়নি।
বার্ন ইউনিটে ১৬ জন
শেখ হাসিনা জাতীয় বার্ন ও প্লাস্টিক সার্জারি ইনস্টিটিউটে ১০ জন জীবন-মৃত্যুর সন্ধিক্ষণে রয়েছেন। তারা হলেন মো. হাসান (৩২), ইয়াছিন (২৬), মো. মুসা (৪৫), খলিল (৫০), আজম (৩৬), ওলি শিকদার (৫৫), বাবলু (২৫), আল আমিন (২৫), বাচ্চু মিয়া (৫৫) ও জাহান (২৫)। এর মধ্যে তিনজন ইনটেনসিভ কেয়ার ইউনিটে (আইসিইউ) এবং সাতজন হাই ডিপেনডেন্সি ইউনিটে (এইচডিইউ) ভর্তি রয়েছেন। এ ছাড়া ঢাকা মেডিকেল কলেজ হাসপাতালের বার্ন ও প্লাস্টিক সার্জারি ইউনিটে ছয়জন জীবন-মৃত্যুর সন্ধিক্ষণে রয়েছেন। তারা হলেন ফাইজু (১৫), সুমন (২৯), টনি (২৮), আরমান (১৮), মোস্তফা কামাল (৫০) ও শাহিন (২৫)। দগ্ধ ১৬ জনের শরীর ৫ থেকে ৯৮ শতাংশ পর্যন্ত দগ্ধ হয়েছে। এর মধ্যে ইয়াছিন, মুসা, আজম, বাচ্চু ও জাহানের অবস্থা আশঙ্কাজনক।
নিহতদের ৫০ হাজার টাকা সহায়তা
গুলিস্তানের সিদ্দিকবাজারে দুটি ভবনে বিস্ফোরণের ঘটনায় নিহতদের ৫০ হাজার টাকা করে সহায়তা দিচ্ছে ঢাকা জেলা প্রশাসন। এ ছাড়া বিস্ফোরণের ঘটনায় আহতদের ধরন অনুযায়ী ১৫ হাজার থেকে সর্বোচ্চ ২৫ হাজার টাকা সহায়তা দেওয়া হচ্ছে। ঢাকা মেডিকেল কলেজ (ঢামেক) হাসপাতালের জরুরি বিভাগের সামনে একটি বুথ চালু করে ঢাকা জেলা প্রশাসন। সেখান থেকেই এ সহায়তা দেওয়া হচ্ছে। ঢাকা জেলা প্রশাসনের সিনিয়র সহকারী কমিশনার ও এক্সিকিউটিভ ম্যাজিস্ট্রেট মোহাম্মদ রহমত উল্লাহ বলেন, জেলা প্রশাসনের পক্ষ থেকে নিহতদের ৫০ হাজার, গুরুতর আহতদের ২৫ হাজার, সামান্য আহতদের ১৫ হাজার টাকা আর্থিক সহায়তা দেওয়া হচ্ছে। গতকাল পর্যন্ত নিহত ১৩ জন এবং আহত ১২ জনের পরিবারকে আর্থিক সহায়তা দেওয়া হচ্ছে। ক্ষতিগ্রস্তদের সহায়তায় আমরা প্রস্তুত রয়েছি। এদিকে রাজধানীর গুলিস্তানের সিদ্দিকবাজারে বিস্ফোরণে ক্ষতিগ্রস্ত ভবনটি ৪৫ বছর আগের। ভবনটির নথি এখনো খুঁজে পাওয়া যায়নি বলে জানিয়েছে রাজধানী উন্নয়ন কর্তৃপক্ষ (রাজউক)। গতকাল দুপুরে রাজউকের পরিচালক (জোন-৫) হামিদুল ইসলাম বিস্ফোরণের ঘটনাস্থল পরিদর্শনে এসে সাংবাদিকদের এ তথ্য জানান। তিনি বলেন, আজ (বুধবার) সরকারি ছুটির দিন থাকায় এখনো নথি খুঁজে পাওয়া যায়নি। তবে বিস্ফোরণের ঘটনা তদন্তে পাঁচ সদস্যের একটি কমিটি গঠন করা হয়েছে। তিনি আরও বলেন, ভবনটি যখন অনুমোদন নেওয়া হয়, তখন রাজউক ছিল না। প্রায় ৪৫ বছর আগে ভবনটির অনুমোদন নেওয়া হয়। আজ সরকারি ছুটির দিন থাকায় আমরা নথি পাইনি। তবে কর্মচারীদের খুঁজতে বলা হয়েছে। রাজউকের এই কর্মকর্তা আরও বলেন, ভবনটি আবাসিক না বাণিজ্যিক, তা জানার চেষ্টা করছি। বিভিন্ন সময়ে ঢাকায় ভবনে বিস্ফোরণ ও ধসে পড়ার দায় রাজউক এড়াতে পারে কি না? জানতে চাইলে তিনি বলেন, ‘দায় তো অবশ্যই একটু নিতে হবে।’
বিস্ফোরণের ঘটনায় মামলা : গুলিস্তান সিদ্দিকবাজারে ভবনে বিস্ফোরণের ঘটনায় অপমৃত্যুর মামলা করেছে ঢাকা মহানগর পুলিশ (ডিএমপি)। এর আগে ঘটনার দিন একটি সাধারণ ডায়েরি (জিডি) করেছিল পুলিশ। গত রাতে এ তথ্য জানান ডিএমপির লালবাগ বিভাগের উপ-কমিশনার (ডিসি) মো. জাফর হোসেন। তিনি বলেন, বিস্ফোরণের ঘটনায় আমরা ঘটনার দিনই বংশাল থানায় জিডি করেছিলাম। আজ (গতকাল) একটি অপমৃত্যুর মামলা করেছি। তবে রাজউক), ফায়ার সার্ভিস ও ডিএমপির সিটিটিসি তদন্ত করছে। তারা যদি এমন কোনো কিছু পায়, যাতে মনে হয় নাশকতা বা বিস্ফোরক তাহলে অন্য মামলা হবে। আপাতত অপমৃত্যুর মামলার আলোকে থানা পুলিশ ঘটনার তদন্ত করবে।
