শনিবার ভোররাতে জেলার রৌমারী উপজেলার সদর ইউনিয়নের নতুন বন্দর হাজিপাড়া গ্রামে এ মর্মান্তিক ঘটনাটি ঘটে। নিহত শিশু হাবিব ও তার মা হাফসা আক্তার নতুনবন্দর এলাকার মোঃ সাহেব আলীর সন্তান ও স্ত্রী। পুলিশ ও এলাকাবাসীরা জানান, শনিবার ভোররাতে প্রচন্ড বৃষ্টির মধ্যে হঠাৎ প্রতিবেশী আব্দুর সবুর নামে এক ব্যক্তির পুকুরপাড়ের পূর্বপাশে ধানখেত থেকে চিৎকারের শব্দ শুনে সকলকে ডাক দেন। পরে প্রতিবেশীরা ঘটনাস্থলে গিয়ে ওই শিশুর মরদেহ ও পাশে গলাকাটা শিশুরটির মা হাফসাকে অচেতন অবস্থায় উদ্ধার করে। এরপর তারা তাদের পরিবারের সহায়তায় শিশুর মরদেহসহ হাফসাকে রৌমারী উপজেলা স্বাস্থ্য কমপ্লেক্সে ভর্তি করেন। পরে হাফসার অবস্থা গুরুতর হলে চিকিৎসক তাকে ময়মনসিংহ মেডিকেল কলেজ হাসপাতালে রেফার্ড করা হলে পথেই তার মৃত্যু হয়।
এদিকে নতুনবন্দর হাজিপাড়া গ্রামের আব্দুর সবুর বলেন, ভোর বেলা পুকুরপাড়ের পূর্বপাশে ধানখেতে গোঙরানির শব্দ কানে আসলে এগিয়ে দেখি হাফসাকে গলাকাটা অজ্ঞান অবস্থায় পড়ে থাকতে ও তার পাশে গলাকাটা অবস্থায় শিশুটির মরদেহ। আমার চিৎকারে আশ-পাশের লোকজন ঘটনাস্থলে ছুটে আসে।পরে রৌমারী থানা পুলিশকে খবর দিলে তারা এসে শিশুর মরদেহ ও মা হাফসাকে উদ্ধার করে।
নিহত হাফসার বাবা উপজেলার সদর ইউনিয়নের নতুনবন্দর গ্রামের আব্দুর রশিদ বলেন, আমার মেয়ে হাফসা আক্তার হারেছার সাথে একই উপজেলার শৌলমারী ইউনিয়নের বাহাদুরের ছেলে সাহেব আলীর সাথে দেড় বছর হল বিয়ে হয়। বিয়ে পর থেকে তাদের মধ্যে দাম্পত্য কলহ চলে আসছিল। এর মধ্যে গত ৫ মাস আগে তাদের ঘরে একটি ছেলে সন্তান জন্ম নেয়। তার সন্তান আমার বাড়িতেই হয়েছে। এর মধ্যে মেয়ের জামাই তার সন্তানের খোঁজ পর্যন্ত নেয়নি। ছেলেটি অসুস্থ্য হলে শুক্রবার সকাল ৮টার নৌকায় তার উকিল বাবার সাথে কুড়িগ্রামের যায় ডাক্তার দেখাতে। এরপর শনিবার সকালে আমার মেয়ে ও নাতির লাশ পরে ছিল আমার বাড়িতে আসার পথের একটি পুকুর পাড়ে।
এ ব্যাপারে রৌমারী থানার অফিসার ইনচার্জ মোন্তাছের বিল্লাহ ঘটনার সত্যতা নিশ্চিত করে বলেন, শিশু ও মায়ের লাশ ময়না তদন্তের জন্য রবিবার দুপুরে কুড়িগ্রাম মর্গে প্রেরণ করা হবে। তবে তার স্বজনদের পক্ষ থেকে মামলার প্রস্তুতি নেয়া হচ্ছে বলে জানান তিনি।
